Preliminary observations at Aisyiyah Putra Orphanage Bukittinggi revealed diverse conditions among adolescent residents regarding smoking behavior. Some adolescents had never attempted smoking and maintained a rejecting attitude toward such behavior. However, others had experienced exposure or experimented with smoking in the context of trial behavior and peer conformity, although they had not yet become active or regular smokers. This study examines the implementation of group guidance services as a preventive intervention for smoking behavior among adolescents residing at Aisyiyah Putra Orphanage in Bukittinggi. Smoking prevention during adolescence represents a critical developmental concern, particularly within institutional care settings where peer influence and limited parental supervision may increase vulnerability to risk behaviors. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation, in-depth interviews with counselors and students, as well as analysis of guidance and counseling service documents. The collected data were then analyzed descriptively to describe the implementation of guidance and counseling services in addressing students' smoking behavior. The findings reveal that structured group guidance sessions incorporating psychoeducation, role-playing, and peer discussion significantly improved participants' knowledge about smoking hazards, strengthened their refusal skills, and fostered supportive peer networks that discourage smoking experimentation. The research concludes that systematic group guidance implementation serves as an effective preventive strategy in orphanage contexts, providing adolescents with cognitive understanding, behavioral skills, and social support necessary to resist smoking temptation during this vulnerable developmental phase. Downloads
